Power Outage

Today, we had expected to be up and running at 0900, the local power grid was being updated.

The power company has extended this time to 1200. MGI will be closed today.

Transition to new Quality Control Software

GlenDee/MGI runs on our own MRP/ERP system. While all aspects of Quality have been handled in that software, we have been looking to incorporate a good bubbling and statistical software. Finally, we believe we have found the solution. The software we selected is 1Factory.

1Factory has all the simplicity of a spreadsheet with the complexity of a statistical software package. It can create the necessary AS9102 Form 1 - 3 documents, and has a dashboard like interface for monitoring your company.

We have implemented the tool for the past two months and have all ready seen the benefits.

GlenDee/MGI purchases its 3rd SMEC SL2500ASY

Another SMEC SL2500ASY Mill-Turn Machine Deployed

GlenDee/MGI has once again decided to purchase its 3rd SMEC SL2500ASY from ProTek CNC in Simi Valley. Protek was able to deliver this machine in under two weeks. Great job to those guys - awesome company to work with.

This machine was purchased to accommodate manufacturing quantity requirements in the 30,000+ pieces per year. We have had success with this machine on other high volume applications.

UR-10E Robotic Tending for our ECOTurn 450's

GlenDee/MGI has purchased a Universal Robot UR-10E for machine tending our ECOTurn 450’s. This robot will allow these machines to produce a minimum of 8 hours per day more than the current day rate. This implementation will be complete by February 1st.

Once we have met our production goal on these machines, we will further implement machine tending on all our manually loaded machines.

Remote Working Will Continue

After an interesting 2020, MGI has embraced the advancement in the remote workspace. We will continue some remote working for the foreseeable future. This is expected until January of 2022.

Well the big day has arrived. We are installing the new machine and will begin setup tomorrow. Here are a couple pics!!

Our Largest Investment into 5 Axis Machining

GlenDee/MGI is now committed to the future of 5 axis machining. We are adding our second Matsuura MAM machine. This machine is the MAM72-70V w/18 pallet changer. Our commitment to the technology and the relationship between GlenDee/MGI, Matsuura, and Selway Machine Tool is strong.

With the addition of this machine, our 5 Axis machining volume will increase to 27” diameter x 20” tall. This machine incorporates a 20,000 rpm spindle and has a 330 tool changer. If this fits your need, please submit an RFQ here

Installation and turn up is scheduled for the end of 2020. Once we are running, pictures will follow.

GlenDee/MGI is looking to the future in 5 axis machines and Horizontal Machining Centers that offer vertical stacking pallet systems. Our current systems are being challenged for uptime and productivity.
